Why I love my queerness - After Emily Long

🌈My queerness makes sense to me. To be honest it’s one of the few things that makes sense to me these days. It makes me feel true to myself.

🌈It’s the active act of being in love, I feel butterflies in my stomach when I think of my queerness.

🌈I love people and how wonderful is that? To love people, to have the ability to love anybody just for who they are?

🌈Belonging to a community that spans continents and languages and genders and more. The most accepting community on this planet. Be anyone, take your time to figure it out, we’ll be here.

🌈That one moment I made flirty eye contact with a girl in a bathroom line and she flirted back - that moment made me feel alive.

🌈Queerdom shattered the black and white lens through which I was seeing life. Now, the pieces of glass refract the light and there’s a rainbow splattered on my walls. There’s nuance. There’s knowledge that everything changes. There’s acceptance and kindness aplenty.

🌈The joy. The unabridged joy of people being themselves.

🌈Queer friends. The unspoken understanding. Our eyes whispering I got you, I see you.
